Calidad de vida y dependencia al consumo de cigarrillo electrónico en universitarios del norte de Colombia

Objetivo: Evaluar la calidad de vida y la dependencia al cigarrillo electrónico en universitarios del Norte de Colombia. Materiales y métodos: Estudio cuantitativo, observacional y descriptivo. Se encuestó a 165 estudiantes universitarios de diferentes carreras en Montería, seleccionados por muestreo por conveniencia. Se utilizó una ficha sociodemográfica para variables de interés y el Índice de Dependencia del Cigarrillo Electrónico para medir el consumo. La calidad de vida se evaluó con la escala WHOQOL-Bref. Se analizó la puntuación de uso de cigarrillos como variable de resultado. Los datos fueron procesados en Jamovi 2.2.2. Para variables cualitativas, se calcularon frecuencias absolutas y relativas, y para las cuantitativas, se utilizó la prueba Shapiro-Wilk para determinar su distribución. Resultados: La mayoría de los encuestados fueron mujeres, con una alta percepción de calidad de vida y salud. Se encontraron niveles medios y altos de dependencia al cigarrillo electrónico. Hubo correlación entre la dimensión social de la calidad de vida y el consumo de cigarrillos (rho = 0.17, p = 0.026). Discusión: El consumo de cigarrillo electrónico es un problema de salud pública, lo que subraya la necesidad de diseñar programas de intervención orientados a la prevención de su consumo y sus efectos en la salud.
