El camino universitario con un perro de asistencia

El presente artículo analiza el caso de una estudiante universitaria con discapacidad psicosocial a quien se le autorizó asistir a todas las asignaturas en compañía de su perro de asistencia como parte de sus ajustes razonables, garantizando su acceso, permanencia y egreso. El problema que se aborda se centra en los diferentes tipos de barreras que debe derribar cualquier estudiante con discapacidad en la educación superior, sobre todo si estas tienen que ver con la salud mental, la ansiedad y control de emociones. La metodología consiste en un estudio de caso, con enfoque cualitativo, basado en el análisis de la trayectoria educativa de la estudiante, el seguimiento institucional y la observación del impacto del ajuste razonable implementado. Los resultados evidencian que la presencia del perro de asistencia en las clases contribuyó significativamente en la estabilidad emocional, la participación en la vida universitaria y la reducción de episodios de crisis sin generar cambios en la dinámica académica. Se concluye que cuando comprendemos la diversidad desde un enfoque de derechos, promovemos la inclusión.
